Some thoughts
Hi,
I think this depends on which one your baby feels comfortable with and for what purpose you buy the carrier for.
We ended up getting both a clothsling and a baby bjorn and both of them have been really, really useful. The cloth one was especially good in the beginning as our baby felt really good in it and she would sleep there comfortably which in turn allowed me to do my own things whilst carrying her. My husband used it as well and loved it. However, it kind of takes over your body as the cloth can be rather long and it does take a bit of time to get used to. We used one from "Me and Mama" but I think there are other ones equally good or even better ... this one has a really long piece of cloth.
Babybjorn became useful a bit later and is fantastic when you go out. We have done long walks using it and going to town is very easy with it. I also just take it with me every time we go out as sometimes our baby starts feeling uncomforable in the pram or just wants to be close to me so I can take her out and use the Babybjorn.
Wonder if this is of any help - I guess I am kind of saying that both products are really handy. It really depends whether you want to use it more at home or outdoors - and what kind of needs both you and your baby have.

baby carrier
Hi,
We had a Hug-a-Bub wrap (kantoliina) in the beginning which both my husband, baby and I loved -- like the previous poster said, small babies just love sleeping in them. However, once our girl got a bit bigger (about 6 months), it started to stretch a bit too much. Also, my husband found the wrapping process to be a bit too tedious.
I then bought an Ergo carrier, which was/is amazing (even my nearly two year old would still fit, if she wasn't so determined to walk) -- I highly recommend it. It's a bit like a baby bjorn, but has hip support, so the baby's weight is mostly on your hips rather than on your shoulders like with the Baby Bjorn.
Also, like with a wrap, with the Ergo there is no 'structure' between you and the baby, so your baby can still snuggle up to your chest or back (it can go either on your chest, back or even hip, although I never tried the latter position). One thing is that I don't think babies under approx 5 months are not meant to go in it, although apparently you can buy infanct inserts. If you want to take a look at one, that expensive maternity/baby store in the Kampi mall that I can't remember the name of at the moment sells them, but I bought mine second hand on-line.
Congratulations on your little one,
K.

hey there redberry , here's a link to huuto. net, Lastenhoitovälineet, you'll have to search through them, at least there are a lot of baby björns and other slings.

Ergo carrier
Hi again,
I found my Ergo 1.5 years ago in the 'kirppu' section of the Finnish baby magazine 'Vauvalehti':
http://www.vauva-lehti.fi/ostajamyy/def ... =135323832
However, the whole thing is in Finnish -- do you have a friend who can help you with this? Everyone writes their own ads, so it can be a bit tricky. Some key words to look for are 'kantoliina' (the wraps) and 'rintarepu' (baby-bjorn and Ergo-type carriers).
Another, perhaps even better, source is the 'kirpputori' section of the Finnish baby online store Baby Idea (again, people just post their own ads to sell stuff second-hand).
If you don't find a second hand one, Baby Idea sells all sorts of new baby carriers in the 'Kantoliina' section. For the new stuff, if you call them they will serve you in English (I've bought a number of things from them, and their service has always been good):

For the new Ergo's on Baby Idea, see:

Good luck

Thanks for ur suggestions...i found many baby björns in huuto for second hand sale....how to pay them after buying....is it cash on delivery or online payment...how will i know once i win the bid, how to register in it or is login just enough?is there any chance of cancelling the bid after winning the bid...thanks to all of u who helped me finding some useful sites...
hey i'm not sure if this is right but to register at huuto.net go to rekisteröidy, they'll ask for : username, email, 1st name surname, address, post number and city, phone number.
we have always payed when collecting the iteam. if you check at at the closing time if you are the last bid then it is yours, you cant pull out after making the final bid it would be unfair to the seller. i dont know how you'll contact the seller maybe they will speak some english r you could get someone to help.
here's a link to a good dictionary it might help.
good luck

Basically, if the item is in your area and you can pick it up, its COD. if the person has to mail it to you its usually you pay price+postage to their account. Getting postal COD costs an arm and a leg on top. For bulky items Matkahuolto offers good rates. Depends though if you're receiving end Helsinki its a bit challenging the cargo depot.
Oh, and the thumb rule of any auction - if you don't want to pay, don't bid. Reputation as a non-paying bidder doesn't help you far at all.

a friend of mine made me a cloth carrier when my daughter was a baby. it was just a piece of strong fabric about 60cm wide and 4m long. nearly 3 years on i am still using it. it folds up and fits in my bag so i can use it if she gats too tired walking. there are so many different ways to tie it that you are bound to find the perfect position for both you and your child. we had bought a baby bjorn carrier before my friend gave me the cloth one but i gave it to a charity shop as soon as i started using the cloth. the cloth one distibutes the weight of the child better accross your back and shoulders.
