Going Soft for the Weak Winter Light: Maia and her Bear

Post by Xochiquetzal » Fri Nov 17, 2006 6:31 pm

There's just not enough light into my house this time of the year to get bright and sharp pictures - so I decided to do some soft touches on all of these. I pretty much just followed the ankle-biter around and snapped photos as I went.

I have to be really careful how I angle her to the light, or I get shots with eyes that are too bright like this one:

After the shoot, she ran out onto the porch and discovered that, yeah, it's COLD out there!

I was going to crop those last two but then decided I kind of liked them with all the clutter and mess. *shrug* It's home!

And a color wash from the shoot the other day:

You have a beautiful daughter and you are an excellent photographer. She will cherish these pictures when she grows older. Usually children (when they are teenagers) feel ashamed when parents show their childhood pictures to other people and especially their girl/boyfriends. When you show these pictures to other people, they will get visibly green of envy . :)

And then she will hate you for making her boyfriend turn green. You can't win, Andrea.

I love the pictures. Maybe I could bring my little munchkin over tomorrow if you have time for him.

RAAMV: I'll be here all weekend. Give me a call if you are in town in daylight hours (10:00-2:00) so I can use the light :)

Karen: It'd be nice to do a this second shoot somewhere other than my house (who wants to look at my couch?) :) Can we meet somewhere like the Tapiola cultural center?
