Moi. My mom wants to send some Christmas pressies to me this year (from the U.S. to Helsinki), but she is worried that the weight of the package will give away the fact that the contents are worth more than 40 eur (she always puts that is less, so I don't have to go to the Customs office to fetch it). Anyone ever gotten caught in this predicament? Any suggestions? My feeling is that nobody is going to bother to notice, but I'd rather not have to deal with any crusty Customs officials.
Kiitos for any advice you can give, and Happy Independence Day!

sending gold bricks again, eh?
They do some random "calling", so you might get lucky anyhow, but then new stuff, in original boxes always attract attention, as well as electronics.
US$ is so cheap now anyhow, even with tax you'll be making a good deal, anyhow.

My sister sent me a package a few weeks ago and labeled it as 'clothing.' She forgot to list the amount on the outside so they sent me to customs to pick it up and open it in front of them. Needless to say there was not a single clothing item in there...just food to complete a Thanksgiving meal (minus the turkey). The lady at customs never said a word and just wanted to make sure there was noting illegal inside.
