Hi,
i am wondering what would be a reasonable salary (per hour) for a 17 year-old babysitter for occasional evenings in Finland? We are looking for a babysitter for our 4 months old baby in the Helsinki area. MLL costs 4,20 plus bus ticket. How much do you pay otherwise?
Thanks for your advice

Am if I am being an old fart again...but isn't 4 months a bit young to be left with a baby sitter?Mrs. Q wrote: We are looking for a babysitter for our 4 months old baby in the Helsinki area.

Sorry have no idea about babysitter rates...
People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

Hi,
The recommended minimum salary to pay for an hour of work in Finland is aroud 5.5€ these days. For an experienced babysitter I think a normal amount would be between 6-8 €/h. For occasional use I would recomment using MLL, the girls there I think have correct motivation and have got at least some useful education, e.g. first aid.
p.s. I know one good babysitter (not through MLL) in Helsinki area, who might be available at evenings; just send me PM and I'll tell more. But as said, 4 months old is quite small...
