Do we take out passports, photos, money, UVI 101 forms, etc to any police station for renewal requests or do Helsinki residents have to go to the Malmi station (Viljatie 2)?
Where to renew residence permit?

Got to go to malmi...have fun...

But what shall it profit a people if they satisfy all material desires, but leave for their children nothing, only a wasteland.

Get an appointment at Malmi, actually it wasn't too much hassle for me, you'll have a long wait before they process it, and now I'm a permanent fixture so...

How about if we arrive before the doors open? What would be the expected wait time?
LF...how long was your process time?

Not sure about wait times, I was in a panic with mine, a guy at the job centre pointed out that I needed to renew it, but it took about 5/6 weeks to process.

Last time I was there I arrived 20 min before opening time and was the first one there. By opening time about 10 others had arrived.
An early morning and 20 minutes wait is much better than 2 hours hanging around Malmi getting frustrated.

If this is an application for a worker's residence permit, then the option of applying at any employment office (even a joint service point) should be considered. Just make sure that you have carefully completed all of the necessary forms in advance, as these local offices are much less well equipped to review the application on the spot. On the other hand, and for the same reason, you avoid any scheiße from junior officials in police stations about whether you are eligible for what you are requesting.
