M&M's Movie Night Out!

Post by Shazzer » Sun Feb 25, 2007 9:27 pm

Hi all M&Ms out there!
It's been more than a year since I went to the cinema, smuggle in a couple of Arnold's donuts :P , munch popcorn in the dark :ochesey: , watch trailers that give away the whole plot :x and settle down for an evening of R&R... :star:

I'm just having a real craving for that!!! Anybody wants to join me?!!!

Movie: Deja Vu (starring Denzel Washington) I hear it's a solid movie.

Date/Time: Catch the 7 or 8 o'clock show on a Friday evening sometime early March? I hope to wrap up the evening by around 10-nish so everyone gets to be home by around 11pm.

Dinner suggestion: How about meeting for dinner before the movie starts? Singapore Restaurant is near Tennispalatsi in Kamppi and we've been talking about going there for our next pig-out, so, that might be a good opportunity, yes? :D

So, let's see who's up to this and I'll book us some seats at the cinema and Singapore (btw, if you like yam basket, we can pre-order it - it's yummy!)

OK, another night out ladies! Hope to hear from you soon!

There is also Baby Cinema if you are in need of a movie...though you will have to bring your child! ant recommend it highly enough.

Count me in! Definitely for the dinner (and the yam basket!), possibly also the cinema. Time for another night out. :D

Ach, it'd be nice to meet you all, but I have the kiddos every other Friday
(this Friday is childfree for instance :)).

Definitely coming!!!! Used to go to the cinema so regularly and now it has been ages. And as for Singapore food ... well ... that would be a real treat!

I wonder if they do laksas here anywhere ... hmm

Would like to join you for the food, but not the movie. Don't know what yam basket is either (something made from sweet potatoes?), but always willing to try.

Glad to see the good response for our next night out!

Enk, it would be so great if you could join us as well! I suppose the next Friday you're free would be March 15. Would that be a good date for everyone else? I'm ready for this Friday already   but I suppose that might be too soon for many?

Another thing - bad news I'm afraid. Looks like Deja Vu is not playing anymore at the cinema  Too bad... I was really gearing up for that one. Well, with the Oscars just over, are there any movies that have now caught your interest? The Queen (starring Helen Mirren - Best Actress)?

I'm rather interested in watching Blood Diamond (starring Leonardo DiCaprio) - a movie about the diamond trade in Africa. Another good movie I've heard.

And here's a picture of what a yam basket looks like. The outer crust is made of mashed yam shaped into a circle (shaped like a basket) and then deep fried. Then a mixture of stirfried vegetables, cashew nuts, diced chicken and fried vermicelli is added into the centre of the crust.

Is yam in season now? Haven't seen them at the stores. Must check with Singapore if they can get yam. So how many yam baskets ladies? :D

Ok then. Will keep everyone updated on the movie scene and the culinary delights!

Both this Fri and two weeks from now are fine with me :)

And just any movie goes since it's been ages since I last saw one :D

On films

Post by Wheely » Wed Feb 28, 2007 10:28 am

Hi,

I would be quite keen on seeing The Queen but any other film will do as well - been a while since I have been to the cinema.

I can do this Friday and the 15th so it really depends on what suits most people.

I guess tomorrow would be too short notice for many so how about if we keep the movie nightout for March 15? (Also not too many good seats left). Do let me know early how many would like to catch the movie so I can book seats for us.

Any good DVDs to recommend in the meantime?! :D

I've seen the Queen and can recommend it. Very solid acting and surprisingly fascinating even if you don't come from a country with a monarchy. :)
