Want a few new members for our English playgroup

Post by bostonian » Tue Feb 27, 2007 12:58 pm

Hi. Four American guys and one Brit (and, obviously, their kids) meet every other Sunday in Kumpula for an English playgroup. We meet for two hours each time and sing songs, read books, eat a snack, play games etc. The kids - there are seven total - are between 19 months and six years (most are between two and four). We are looking to expand the group, as it often happens that a few of us can't make it each time. The only requirement is that ADULTS MUST SPEAK ENGLISH...no Finnish allowed in this club (though of course the kids slip sometimes). I guess, in that sense, the club best suits children with an English speaking parent. There is also a small fee for using the facilities. If you're interested, you can send me an email at kevinmhanley@gmail.com or respond to this post.

Hi! My son is almost 14 months old: is he too young to qualify? He's interested in other kids, very friendly, but started walking only recently. Both me and my husband speak English, albeit we're Hungarians. You mentioned facilities: what does this actually mean and how much would it cost?

Hi Jucus. Actually, for me, 14 months is great...my daughter is 19 months, and it would be nice to have someone around her age. There is some organized program, which she usually participates in for about 15 seconds before wondering off. So if it's OK with you that the program is targeted toward older kids, it's OK with us. I just want my daughter to be around the English language as much as possible. OK, that fee: Everytime we use the place, it costs us 20€. This 20€ is split between all of us. So, for instance, last autumn I personally paid a total of 20€ for the five times we met. The more people we get, the less it will be. We will meet next on March 11 at 11,00...if you're interested send me an email and I'll give you all the pertinent info.

In a similiar vein, there is an English speaking playgroup in Siltamäki (or suuturila and other places around that area)

We meet on Saturday morning at 10am for 2 hours. We could really use some more children there.
