Can I change my Tourist VISA to a Working Holiday Visa here?

Post by jonathon.cusack » Tue Feb 27, 2007 4:43 pm

Does anyone know if I can I change my Tourist VISA to a Working Holiday Visa here? I am getting a thousand different responses from so many different people. The people at the Directorate of Immigration barely knew and I think they just said yes go to England and get one there just to get me off the line. Then I rang the Finnish embassy in London and they said well they send it here to the local police stations or whatever so see if you can get one there.

So I dont konw, I really dont.

Can anyone help?

If UVI said go to UK - then I'd go to UK. They have an order of papers and the paper goes Embassy=>UVI. Everything else confuses the hell out of everyone and annoys the hell out of the pigs.... Of course nothing stops you from applying, but I wonder if you really do want to spend 3-4 months waiting for them to say to you "wrongly applied"... I mean theres now as of late been 3-4 topics on this. The UVI does not like applications made locally. Besides which have you read the Working Holiday Visa requirements, as in money/funds/return ticket etc.???

3-4 months? Surely not. I am going to have to call the Directorate of Immigration tomorrow again, the Finnish Embassy in Australia and see the police station tomorrow.

There must be an easier way to do these things.

Jonathan, Jonathan, Jonathan :D
You must have it BAD!
I applied for my Work/Holiday visa from Australia - it took over four months to have it approved and to get my passport back. Not to mention that I was starting to get worried - and no one knew where my application was. Turned out, they had sent it to the wrong department.
Be prepared for a wait... and some 'tense' moments.
Also, make sure you meet the requirements, as Hank said.....
