biggest KELA office?

Post by interleukin » Thu Mar 15, 2007 11:39 am

Hi all,

I need to go talk to the ladies at KELA and ask lots of questions (for a person moving to Finland). I would like to maximise my chances of finding someone that really knows everything about this subject, and preferably someone who can speak Swedish.

Can you tell me which of the KELA offices is the biggest one? The one in Kamppi or in Tölö? Or another one? I went to one office on Mannerheimintie last fall to get my KELA card, and there was ONE lady working there and 30 people in queue. Not the best situation to sit down and ask lots of questions.

I called KELA and asked if I should/could book an appointment with them to minimise waiting times for other people, but that is not possible it seems.

thank you for your time,
interleukin

I went to Kamppi and there were several people working (at least 3 or 4), no lines. I was in and out very quickly. This was back in Nov. though. The lady I talked to spoke no English (dunno about Swedish) but we hacked through it in Finnish and she was very nice and helpful. AFAIK they have all the forms there in Finnish, Swedish and English.

Edit to add: main page on kela.fi (1st item under news in English) link states:
There is also a dedicated Customer Contract Centre for Swedish-language customers. The Customer Contact Centres are open daily between 0800 and 1800 hours.

in the Customer Contact Centre, Pirjo Myyry, tel. 020 63 44301 (couldn't see the Swedish number, but these people prob would know).

Maybe they can help?

Thanks, I might try my luck at the Kamppi one then.

The Swedish-speaking telephone service is excellent, and great for simpler questions. My questions, however, quickly got too complicated to go through via telephone, so I decided to try visiting KELA directly.

Best regards,
