Hi,
I have to apply for a residence permit for my studies in Vaasa. It will be my first time. Yet I have seen confusing informations on websites, so I thought I had to ask. I will be grateful if anyone can help me.
Problem is about the financial prequisites. I know that I have to prove that I have 6000 euros per year at my or my sponsors (my family) bank accounts. Yet on one of the websites it says that I have to bring the money over and deposit it to a finnish bank. On the other hand on University of Vaasa's or uvi's websites nothing as such is being mentioned. On those websites it only says that I have to prove that my family is capable of supporting my living in Finland. This is crucial for me because I dont want to deposit my money to a finnish bank simply because of financial reasons. I plan to have money orders sent from Turkey by my family every month.
Can you please help me sort it out? I hope that it will be ok both ways so that I wont need to carry 6000 euros to Finland. Thanks.
non EU residence permit
The exact wording from the UVI web site...I underline the important words..
Student's income
The Finnish government does not usually fund the stay of foreign students in Finland. Hence the applicant must show that his or her income is secured either with a scholarship, a grant or other funds with which the student can support him- or herself during the academic year.
Students must be able to prove that they have at their disposal at least 500 euros a month or 6000 euros for a year. If the educational institution offers free tuition, accommodation and meals, the required amount can be reduced.
How do you prove it, if it is not in a Finnish Bank?
Perhaps a letter of guarantee from your sponsors...not sure if that is acceptable...
Try asking here..

People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

You should know you ask from the people who decide this matter in practice and not some pages that quote the principle. So ask the Embassy of Finland in Ankara which is the "proof" that is accepted. If the "proof" they require is the money in the Finnish bank account then it is... it is not what you want, it is what they want. They decide if ou go to study or not, so their want of seeing certain papers in a certain order is bigger than your want.
(BTW Nobody says the money has to *stay* there if it is the case...
