applying for working visa from within the country

Post by Jaikkanen » Mon Jun 04, 2007 8:13 pm

I had previously posted a thread, in relation to working visa's. After more thinking about my options, And it has just came about time for me to make a decision as i will near 6 months left living here under the exsisting permit.

Hank W had mentioned the "bb/viewtopic.php?t=16296&highlight=stupid+uvi".. and this gave me a slight scare. I printed out the first page, I wanted to make sure I understood it properly. Then i planned to approuch UVI and enquire directly.. yet somehow due to it, i don't feel that will likely do much good.

Anyway, to a more direct question, has anyone since then (September 2006) in a similar situation had a differed outcome? More specificly a GOOD outcome.

I don't know if this helps you at all....

But I was able to change from a working-holiday permit to a residence permit based on work. It was difficult, but with some help from my employer - it was done. However, I had to have my qualifications checked and now this is on my residence permit - I get the feeling that it was a first for the police here in Tampere!

It also helped that I had an email from UVI, dated months before, that stated I could do this change in Finland. Otherwise, I would have had to leave and apply from home....

WOW! Well that does kind of help me actually, as i currently do possess a working holiday permit. Can you be more specific in regards to qualifications check? I don't have a GREAT deal of education, I didn't even finish high school.. my only further education (OFFICIALLY on paper) is a 4 month course for information technology.. simple crap. Can you give me an idea if they expect you to be notably educated in a trade?.. I am currently employed at puuhamaa, and they pretty much expect you to turn up.. use alittle muscle.. and common sense.

I had to have all my degrees looked at - and now on my residence permit it says 'ERITYISOSAAMISTA VAATIVA ASIANTUNTIJATEHTÄVÄ: ENGLANNIN OPETUS MUIDEN KIELTEN PUHUJILLE'.

I think its something to do my with higher degree qualifications and my 'Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages' qualification. I think, for me to get this residence permit 'allowance', I needed to have a profession.

I honestly don't know how you'll go with your IT certificate...
