Hei guys, Mina olen Manazir, Bangladeshista : P (I introduced myself in here : viewtopic.php?f=6&t=45270 )
I currently live in Oman (a boring country in the MiddleEast), and plan to finish school this year and go for a bachelors degree in either architecture or civil engineering at either Aalto Yliopisto Teknillinen Korkeakoulu or at Tampereen Teknillinen yliopisto ...... and I've been informed that I have to learn finnish language, for which I am doing that at the moment! I am using online resources to learn the language and my friend in Finland motivated me to learn it too .... I find it very easy and good thing is, i can catch it pretty quickly but sometime, i need to practice to keep it up.
I would like to know one thing though, for the Finnish language test, Do I need to come to Finland (cuz i dnt think here they dont have such facilities :/) ?? ..... and is it advicable, that before starting my course in finland, i come here for sometime and get used to the life and language?? because even after many practices and stuff, u have to get used to it, right?
To be honest, I am confident that I can catch the language pretty quickly just like I do when I learn it using online resources
any more advice for me? then please do tell me
Kiitos

Can someone tell me what the average GPA is for students accepted in to University of Helsinki, or any major University in Finland? Not based on international or exchange students but all students. I know the process and the entrance exam, BUT how does it translate to the GPA of accepted students in practice? Anyone know?

To get a student residence permit you have to show that you have 6000 euros for a year. But that is not enough for "living life", that barely covers your food and a room somewhere.

Moi Hank and others,
My name is Ben, and I am hoping somebody may be able to help me in regard to securing a business internship in Finland in 2011. I am studying a bachelor of commerce degree in Geelong, Australia, and a business internship would really enhance my degree.
I am seeking an internship with a duration of 100 hours, so it is relatively short, at a Finnish organisation. The only problem is, I have no idea about how or where to apply for such an internship. In Australia, we are instructed to find our own host workplace overseas for the internship, but I have no Finnish connections and Nokia is the only Finnish organisation, I know of.
Could somebody please help me? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you have any advice, at all, please contact me directly, by emailing: [email protected]
Kind regards and with many thanks,
- Ben

Is it possible to find the statistics on applicants/number of offers made for the international masters degrees at Oulu University? I found the information for Helsinki University, and would like to see Oulu for a comparison. I am currently studying Geography at the University of Edinburgh and was wondering how difficult the entry standards were.
thanks
thanks

Shockingly enough, even with the money I'd have to part with to support myself through a university study in Finland, it's still cheaper than studying in the United States, and for a generally better standard of education - the average cost for an out-of-state tuition (which I'd probably have to pay, considering my field) is about 12k, the in-state average being about 8k (comparable to what the Finnish government would ask me to show to support myself per year).
College in the US sucks for a lot of reasons, and the cost is the biggest one.

I doubt it. studying is free in scotland and no doubt the uk will pay grants too depending on your situationrachelnguyen wrote:I am Asian. I know that studying Finland is free, we just pay for living expenses. Therefore, I think studying Finland is much cheaper than any countries in Europe. I heard that it just take 3000-4000 EU per year, isn't it?

I'm dissapointed there's no big unified system like the Swedish studera, I'm looking to try and pick up some distance courses.
