Mass resignation of nurses will happen on 19th of November, which is a day before my due delivery date! GREAT!!!!

Do you think this planned resignation will actually happen? Or do you think they will be able to avoid it?

Thank you, somone else too!

Where are you due to give birth?

Im due Nov 14th and due to go to Jorvi. Which yesterday said it would shut if everything goes ahead. I dont want to go anywhere else

Im just hoping baby comes on time or even a week early now, often babies go late though.

Yle this morning is saying nurses will be forced to work

I hope it gets cancelled. Its one stress we could really do without.

Yeah mCowboy! I just wanted to focus on pregnant women who will be affected by this so leave me and my pregnancy-hormone-induced-anxiety alone!

Sara, I'm supposed to go to Katiloopisto but I'm afraid that it will be *PACKED* with women from Jorvi and other places when I go into labour and I'll be left alone to do many things... Now I'm worried that all the nurses will be sulky because they will be 'forced' to work! :(

Let's hope our babies arrive a bit earlier.

Thats my worry that places will be packed full.

Also because Im due to go to Jorvi I get a feeling that we'll be left to call round and find a hospital that has room to take us.

All hopes of getting a family room also went out the window.

Im not worried about being left alone, Im happy to get on with the most part but of course need help at the crucial moment.

Yesterday I was quite upset about it, Im used to Jorvi. Been for all my scans and some extras and had to spend 2 days in there as well. I know my way round, had the tour and knew what to expect and was relaxed about the situation. If I end up somewhere else its like being thrown in at the deep end. I have no idea of facilities or what to expect.

Hopefully its resolved soon and we dont need to worry anymore.

Then you should try Tammisaari!! Generally less crowded...
They also cater to natural birth, acupuncture, water relaxation, etc apart from epidural if you really want it..and KELA pays for the trip to and fro..
Call them up just as a backup..

No problem ladies...Mcowboy has been to Suomalianen KirjaKaupa this morning and bought himself a 10€ pocket book on Midwifery...he will read it and then lend it to Hank...so they will be available should all else fail

Seriously... there has to be a team of specialist planning what to do should Jovi need to close...they have your names on their lists, and have already penciled in plan B ....They are not going to leave you to your own devices..
As Hank would say..."This a nanny state"
You are in äiti land...Finland....you will be wrapped carefully in cotton wool, (whether you like it not) as will your healthy babes.!
People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

Raamv, I did mention Tammisaari to my husband last night. If only Id be lucky enough to squeeze in there! Would proberly suit me perfectly as I plan on staying hell away from the epidural!

I think Ill skip on Hanks delicate midwifery skills though

I know we'll be taken care of somewhere and somehow, but its more the point that Ive lost the control now! I knew exactly what I was in for and at what location.

I have neuvola next week and a scan at Jorvi the week after so least I have plenty of chances to see what the plan B is :)
