Are there any pointers (for e.g. Tax consulting companies), helping startup with Import business in Finland.
Is it sufficient to have Toiminimi with VAT id? Any other approval needed from authority regulating "import checks" etc?

Depends on what you import and from where. If its outside the EU you got then your thing with the customs http://www.tulli.fi
