This was pretty spectacular, too. Quite good coverage, as well, seeing how old it is. I remember it quite well, as I had 10 bob on Red Alligator, which eventually came in 3rd, but wouldn't have beaten the favourite anyway.

Ah... what a disappointment. What did the Queen say to the jockey afterwards, I wonder...

(as an aside - love that background music thingy - I'm too young to remember it myself, have only seen old bits and pieces from the YLE archives, but that was the custom here in Finland as well in the 50's... maybe even in the early 60's)
