Advice

Hi to everyone.
I am an italian girl who is going to graduate (B.D.) next year, English and Finnish as majors, and after that I would like to move to Finland.
I want to ask you, is there any Master Degree in English at the Oulu University?
Also, is it possible to continue my studies in Italianistic ? I have heard that for teaching italian I would need a degree in Italianistic, even if I am mothertongue, I don't know if it is true, but it is always good to ask.
I am even good at webdesign, but I have never taken a course for it or anything, all I know it's learnt with experiences in my free time. I was wondering if to get a job as webdesigner you need some degree or something?

I know i asked 3 things on 3 different fields, but I am still thinking what to do after I move there. I don't even know if I wont to work or study...but I still have one year to think about it.
Anyone has some advice?
Basically my ideas are 1) become an italian teacher 2) be a traslator 3) work in the turistic field (right now I am working in a hotel in my city, and I just love this job...I would also enjoy being a Turist Guide for example) 4) be a webdesigner 5) something else that didn't still come to my mind :P
Thanks for the help.

Either you
a) want to study Italian philology
b) study in Oulu in English
c) become a webdesigner
So try to make up your mind

Latin languages and translation exists mainly in Helsinki and the Hel Uni campus in Kouvola. For Oulu you use the magic webmaster skills and go see http://www.universityadmissions.fi and maybe http://www.oulu.fi => and ask the horse.

For practical purposes you can be an "unqualified" teacher easily, as there isn't so many Italian linguists, then again Oulu isn't necessarily having the greatest demand. As this evidently is a HBS case, I'd look into studying in Oulu, then when you are in, do the 35 credits for pedagogy... and maybe apply to do the philology to get your final certificate.

I speak Finnish and I wouldn't have the audacity to teach the language... mitä kuuluu, katso merta! ;)

Ouluy isn't as much of a tourist town... where they want Italian-speakers is the resorts in Lapland.
Cheers, Hank W.
