Nationalistic Attitudes in Finland?
Hi, i deserved to spend a whole semester in Tampere and a friend from there warned me about skinheads. That's interesting because i heard that Tampere is one of the most popular places between tourists or foreign students. Do you really think i might find myself in a dangerous situation?

Well, if you intend to cut the queue at the small hours of the night at a sausage stand the probability of getting dangerously close to not have much to eat with is greater than getting something to eat.

Hmm. I’d say that would apply to the natives as well...Hank W. wrote:Well, if you intend to cut the queue at the small hours of the night at a sausage stand the probability of getting dangerously close to not have much to eat with is greater than getting something to eat.

No, its due to nationalism because if you yell them to get to the back of the line it is because the other people are racist and xenophobic, if you're a native its because you're stupid yourself.

Hahha! Ok, i'll try to stay away from sausage stands after midnight.
Re: Nationalistic Attitudes in Finland?
Skinheads & other nationalistic w*nkers are fortunately a very, very small minority. (Although there was a short spell of some rather serious local problems several years ago with skinhead gangs somewhere, was it in Joensuu?) But as always, it only takes one idiot, if you're unlucky... drunken fools do not need to be nationalistic to behave like drunken fools do
Just keep common sense with you if you e.g. go out very late during weekends, but all in all you shouldn't worry too much.

Well it is common sense, if there is nothing to do, no future, everyone is unemployed idle hands cause mischief, and if theres nothing else to do than drink and then you have a group of other idlers with not much ambitions as its a dead end then you have stupidity in groups.

It'll be fine, Toz (unless you go looking for trouble). Enjoy your time in TRE.tozluhikaye wrote:Do you really think i might find myself in a dangerous situation?
You want to worry more about the goddamned noise made by those Spanish students camped out in the foreign student ghetto kitchens.

Well thats why you just need to learn languages... I learn phrases with a mindmap... a little girl in a mantilla saying : Baja la voz por favor and then the man with no name taking the cigar out and saying Callete la boca o yo te mato ...
Those student ghetto kitchens have one peculiar feature though, I've never seen anything live in a flower pot in one, but everywhere else though... especially in a canister by the radiator draped in blankets saying bulibulibul... :l
see now I was a poor student in the time so we made our own instead of the luxury of buying beer from the store)
