No, they're racists because they took some pictures for some advertisements before the Olympics where they adopted poses that mocked the physical characteristics of Chinese.

I didn't get the offence at all, even though I'm ethnic Chinese. The Spanish photo didn't make any fuse in China at all. I think there were more uproars in America. Some people in China might have slanted eyes. But again there ladies with slanted eyes might be regarded as more beautiful. So no offence are taken in China.

I think when China is getting stronger, Chinese people in China won't get offended much at all by those words such as chinaman, chinks, etc. First of all, people in Chinese might not know the background of those words at all. When they learn English in school, they are taught that they are Chinese. So when a foreigner in China says chinaman to a Chinese, the Chinese would think that the foreigner speaks crappy English, and thinks the foreigner is stupid instead of getting offended.

Yeah, I showed it to co-worker who was from the PRC, and he didn't seem to mind it. Here in the States (and thw West) it's viewed as an ethnic slur. I think it's kind of obvious when someone tries to make fun of someone's physical attributes that it's an insult.

well... basketball isn't that big in Finland but theres a few big guys like Hanno Möttölä playing in the US as professional...

well, it´s normal that we have lost with the usa team, they´re the best... anyway here in my "RACIST" country we´re proud of them, with a little of luck maybe we could do something better, anyway we have to congratulate usa team. bye

Finland beat Serbia on Saturday (a massive, massive upset), and play against Hungary away tonight. It's on Urheilukanava at 7pm.
