Finnish lessons in aikuislukio in Helsinki

Post by luckykitty » Tue Aug 26, 2008 11:46 pm

Hi, has anyone had any experience studying at highschools for adults in Helsinki (aikuislukio)? Were the teachers/classes good? There's 3 different highschools for adults i know of, Eira, Mäkelärinne and Helsingin, does anyone have a recommendation for which one to go to (for finnish lessons) thanks :)

Yes but, all the students who are enrolled on the High School programme take the Finnish Matriculation exam in FINNISH. I have heard some excellent reports (from two of my eldest son's friends) who said their Finnish improved much quicker at Eira than it had in their previous school. They were both enrolled on the full programme though, not just the Finnish classes.

I went to Mäkelärinne for two years (evenings). I thought their classes and teachers were excellent, only complaint was there was not many good pubs close by for post-teaching relaxing..

At least Jukka has His Finnish Sense of humor!!
But then when you do "become" Finnish, theres more than just the normal hi bye stuff...
There are Rituals..and customs and rituals and expectations and hopes and expectations and discussions and discussions..etc
Its like a microcosmic world that exists only under the "Finnish" microscope..Otherwise..it looks like life as normal..
