I understand golf is not one of the primary sports for FF members, but perhaps some of you might find this interesting.
Finnish golfers finished 1st, 2nd, 7th, and a pair tied for 37th; the best showing of Finnish professional golfers I have ever seen anywhere.

FYI the Challenge Tour is like a minor league to the big European Tour. The top 20 money winners on the Challenge Tour qualify to play on the European Tour the following year.
Anybody out there care about the Ryder Cup?
Great finish by Finnish golfers
Re: Great finish by Finnish golfers
Ahokas looks like a lock to get his card next year. Kakko needs a big finish to the season, but he could also make it. We aren't quite up there with Sweden yet, but it'll come.
Not sure about the Poulter pick. There seem to be chemistry problems. Still, Clarke has been very generous - he must be a bit gutted, as he's being playing well lately.
The Challenge Tour event AND the LPGA 1-2 (Minea and Ursula in Tali) were both covered on the Hesari International Edition.
Blomqvist and Ahokas shine on good day for Finnish golf (1.9.2008)

I watched a portion of the press conference where Faldo announced the remaining team members. Sounded like Poulter's finish in the final round of the British Open played a significant role in his decision.otyikondo wrote:Not sure about the Poulter pick. There seem to be chemistry problems. It was also noted that for anybody who has been named to the team a number of times (i.e. on a long run as a team member), the first time you are left off the team is a real shot to the gut. This would be the case for both Clarke and Monte. Faldo also noted toward the end of the press conference that most of the time had been spent talking about who did NOT make the team, rather than the two (Poulter & Casey) who made it.
Any way you look at it, Europe has to be a huge favorite to retain the cup. The best player in the world is on the shelf, and this USA team has a very spotty record; I think everyone on this team has a losing record in Ryder Cup matches.
