Msc Entrance requirements/EU Student with Bsc

Post by scottledeuce » Wed Nov 12, 2008 1:03 am

Hi there,
I've been in contact with university of Tampere in relation to applying for their MSc Degree Programme in User Interface Software Development,
I have completed my Bsc Honors in computing in Web Development (240 ecds credits) last year and would really love to finish my studies in Finland (no pun intended) as Its a good time in my life to be traveling also after some of the friends I met at Provinssi rock last year I 'd love to be back.

From what I have read I should pass the entry requirements no problem and the English exam is not an issue but from what I read on the website there seems to be a low success rate for applications, I know this is because a lot do not meet requirements but It just has me concerned as I really want to get accepted and as I have maybe 2 or 3 similar courses in mind would it be of any benefit to apply for them all and choose one should I be lucky enough to be accepted (as is done in Ireland) or is it better to just apply for one.

Also I know application forms for next September are not out yet but when completing applications are you often called for an interview/send references/CV or is it based on the merits of your bsc degree.

I would love to hear from someone who had a similar experience as there is so much information that I can find on the net but there are so much varibles that it's hard to tell if or how much of what I read applies to me.

Thanks

Brian

just prep on your maths. the dismal acceptance rate generally is due to spammers who send their "hello, I am the son of king of dildoland and wish to study at your establishment" who won't be even granted a visa to sit the tests or some guys buying their certificates off a cereal board applying... and then theres the locals as well who couldn't get in the Finnish programmes... OK so that explains half - getting in means you actually need to know your stuff as the competition for the few places is fierce. luck and such as you be needing it
