Factory outlets in Espoo..Factory tours..need info:-)

Post by rigama » Mon Nov 17, 2008 10:06 am

Hey,

I just came to know about the factory of Fazer products..It is there in Vantaa and they have free guided tour.
We can have as many chocolates as we want, when we are inside the premises. but need to buy them if we want to take them out.But the rates are supposed to be very less when compared to other shops... :D

I also heard about Lumene factory.Would like to know if it is always open for public and how would be the cost if getting directly from there..
Are there any other such factories in Espoo,Helsinki,Vantaa region.Especially espoo...
Would like to visit such places and who would not like to buy good things at a cheaper cost :)

The Lumene factory outlet is in Kauklahti in Espoo: http://www.lumene.fi/default.asp?docId=22358
I don't think they have any tours to the factory, but the outlet sells products supposedly quite cheap (I haven't been there myself). The factory is quite easy to find along the Kauklahdenväylä, and the train station is also quite close by (notice the "Sijainti kartalla" link in the page).

A lot of the products in the Lumene shop are the same price as in Prisma but they do have special offers and stuff with dodgy packaging. I got some huge savings on face cream where the labelling was upside down. They also sell household products (washing powder etc), haircare products several other ranges all of which belong to the Lumene group. They probably have Xmas gift packs around this time of year.

It is very difficult to get a Fazer tour, you need to phone in (but it isn't a year round thing) and I think you have to be part of a group. There are some good savings to be made in the shop but the regular tour is disappointing as you just see machines wrapping chocolates. The VIP tour is great (I was really lucky to get in on that a few years ago): you have to scrub up and put on the NCIS head-to-toe bunny suits but you get to see Mignon eggs being filled (by hand) and the workshop where the handmade chocolates are produced. Much more interesting.

Kalevala Koru (jewellery) does a nice "factory" tour and so does Arabia (tableware).

Here is a link to factory outlets which I have posted on this forum several times already:

Lumene is pretty good for the sale items as Penny already mentioned..The only thing is that they only accept cash..
There are also other outlets as I just read Penny's link!! Thanx for that link Penny!!
