I moved to Finland in 1989 Finland wasn't then in the EU. I gave my German driving licence (I am a Welsh citizen) to the Police. However that was my original driving licence and nowadays EU citizens can keep their original driving licences. Is it possible to get my oroginal driving licence back as it is something of principle and fond memories. I live in Salo and the police here are not so well informed about legal things. They say it might be that I drive with 2 licences i.e speeding offences or whatever.

So you lost your Welsh accent thenTaffy wrote: They say it might be that...

Have you thought of writing to the licencing centre in Germany and telling them that you lost your licence, so could they send you a new one?

might be they require one to live in Germany... of course theres that bit also that if you go away from Finland you should exchange the licence back...
just wondering which part of EU makes people immune to Finnish legislation? I want one of those parts too.

Give up hope of getting that other license back. Finland isn't going to let you have two. I have tried already
I ended up reporting my US license lost and am getting a new one sent but I think with you being in the EU it might work differently, I have no idea

Re: submitted driving licence.
1. Thanks a lot maybe reporting German driving licence lost is a possibility.
2. No. I still ave a bit of welsh accent due to the fact that I always try to make sure that foreigners dont get me mixed up with the rest dwelling on that island.
But never mind merch we all have to share the little island dont we?
