January sales? (specfically electronics)

Post by Barnsey » Mon Dec 22, 2008 5:05 pm

Hi everyone,

Just a quick one to ask about the general situation here with the post xmas sales. Like the UK, do shops open on boxing day with queues of people outside the doors at 5am or are things a little more subdued here in Helsinki?

I'm holding out to get a cheaper laptop but don't really know if they'll fall in price by much in the sales.

Mucho ta for your knowledge :ochesey:

According to my calendar, the 26th is a red letter day. I'm guessing that most shops will be closed.

About price, are PCs the kind of product which needs to be discounted after Christmas? Doubt it. Any fall in prices is going to be driven by the credit crunch as opposed to post-Xmas sales.

Shops will open only on Saturday 27.12.2008 after the Christmas closure (24. - 26.12.2008). On the Boxing Day only smaller (< 400 sqm) grocery stores can be open for four hours between 12 noon and 6 pm. Most sales will begin on that day, but e.g. Stockmann has traditionally started their sale season a bit later (January?).

Not sure how much lower the prices on electronics will go than in the Christmas offers that all shops are having...
