I dunno if the places are good or not but in Espoo in Sello and Iso Omena parking halls there are businesses that do that while you are inside shopping. I am not sure what the prices are either but I think it was something like 40€. There could be the same services in other parking halls as well around Helsinki.

I think there are also companies who will come out if you call (eg they can do the repair at your workplace carpark).
But if you have been driving around for a few days in this (muddy) weather then chances are the repair won't be too good. In our experience, the best repairs are done asap after the impact. We have also used the services in Iso-Omena / Prisma underground carparks.

Its best to put some tape on the chipped area to protect it from dirt and get it repaired as soon as possible.if you have been driving around for a few days in this (muddy) weather then chances are the repair won't be too good
Re: Chipped car windscreen - repair
you will have to get it fixed within a week of the impact or else it will be too late for a repair...moreover,if the crack is within the driver's field of vision then you may have to go for a complete change of the windscreen...my windscreen has also cracked and they guy said that it cannot be repaired as it was in the driver's field of vision and i would have to change the whole windsceen...luckily my insurance covers that

Sorry for the other brand new thread I created, I thought it would not be possible to find one as specific as this windshield issue, and here it is, just 4 threads under mine.
My windshield had an impact, now 10cm crack, so I have to replace it, which are these companies which do that?
Thx!

It all depends.
- If your insurance is paying, you do what they tell you, which is probably go to a main dealer
- If you're paying and the car is fairly new, you should probably go to the main dealer
- If you're paying and the car is old, then you should find somewhere cheapish.

And if you are still using your French insurance then maybe you should look at moving to a Finnish one as, in my experience, you get a much better deal. French insurance companies quibble about EVERYTHING (the Macif once refused to pay up for new bodywork on my 2CV because the car hadn't actually been broken in to, the thief had simply unbolted the bits and walked off with them
). The French system seems to be based on lack of trust (they think everyone is lying) whereas the Finnish one is based on trust and honesty. My car is on its 3rd windscreen (which has been repaired twice already) and we've never had a problem with insurance.
BTW, did you import your car already? If not, you will have to replace the windscreen before you get it inspected I think.

Penelope> I mailed insurance, they told me to send a declaration paper + invoice and told me I would be 100% covered. Seems ok, though I have to pay first. I'll take a picture of the crack before, in any case.
I went to Tulli in Vuosaari, i'm in a mess, since, ok, I have this "ilmoitus ajoneuvon käyttöönotosta" but it doesn't seem to be the good paper...
+ as I posted on the other thread, Katsastus guy tells have to hurry before the 10 days limit.
+ I don't really get the sentence of my Tulli paper saying I should take contact within 5 days from signature of the tulli paper I already have.
Yet Tullineuvon told me I could go to Vaasa tulli where I currently work to do these papers...

Re: Chipped car windscreen - repair
I had a crack in my windscreen and I got it fixed by the firm operating in Sello carpark. The guy did a good job.
On my insurance policy (with If), you have to pay the first EUR150 yourself for a replacement windscreen. However, if you get it fixed rather than replaced, the insurance company pays the whole cost of the repair. I guess this is a fairly common situation, as the guy that repaired the windscreen knew all about the various insurance policy rules.
The repair cost EUR 90 - the crack was appox 8 to 10 cm I'd say.

Re: Chipped car windscreen - repair
Ok I talked about a replacement since I have a crack at least 10cm long, but the fact is that in France, an impact is repaired only if it's under 1cm diameter! How do they do to repair a 10cm crack here?
