Fazer chocolate
Hi! I want to buy a lot of fazer chocolate (like the gift boxes) for friends and family when I go visit them overseas. Is it cheaper buying it at the a)supermarket b) airport or c) Fazer factory which i am visiting soon
. Thanks!

Re: Fazer chocolate
Maybe it's dumb for me to post this now since it's too late but you should have stocked up right after Christmas. They had tons of the boxed chocolate for 50% just about everywhere. But since those sales aren't around anymore I wouldn't know what to tell you. Maybe the airport since it's tax free. But I wouldn't know since I don't go there so often to remember the prices.

If you have space in your check-in baggage, and cost is your major concern, I suggest you visit your local supermarket before you travel. But be wary of buying boxes which may get crushed as the luggage handlers throw your suitcases around - biscuits for example, seldom make it through intact.
There are seldom decent offers at Vantaa, however, anything you buy in the departure lounge can be carried in onto the plane so it's extra to your baggage allowance. You pay extra for the convenience of getting it last minute.
Alternatively, you can pre-order and have it waiting for you on the plane (but this is not the cheapest way to do it)

Re: Fazer chocolate
And nothing is tax-free unless your destination is outside the EU....
I seem to remember the factory shop at the Fazer factory was actually good value for money (IIRC I bought a lot of stuff) but I can't remember if they had a decent selection. Sometimes the really cheap offers are only on selected lines. If you buy from a supermarket using your S-Kortti you will get the points, so might be a better deal than the airport. Sometimes the selection at the airport is not so good, especially outside Xmas.
Another solution would be to find someone with an access card to Heino (in Sörnäinen) and you could look for bulk purchases there. Again, it is not always the cheapest place for small quantities so you need to compare prices. OTOH you probably will find Fazer Mignon eggs at Heino, whereas I don't think I have seen them in the supermarkets yet.

A noet about the Mignon eggs and travelling, but I had a heck of a time getting
them through customs in the States because of avian influenza. After a gazillion
calls, they finally decided to let them through. I even explained to them in detail
that they are sterilized, etc., but they still had to cover their rears.
So be prepared for fun in some places if you try to take them in. They're still
worth the trouble though

I took those eggs into Australia. They made me peel one of them first and then it was fine.
