dry cleaners

Post by mita » Tue Feb 17, 2009 1:18 pm

Hi,
I'm looking for a low priced dry cleaner in the capitol area (or somewhere else). My local SOL charges 30 € to clean 1 suit
and I'm too cheap to pay 120€ to clean 4 suits so if you know of a better price that could be nice to hear about.

Best regards,

Have a nice day!

SOL has a monopoly in the Helsinki area. I would certainly be interested if you find somewhere cheaper.

I heard there is an independent cleaners in or around Töölö, off Mannerheimintie, but I haven't found it yet.

One day I will storm FInland with a chain of budget cleaners. In the meantime I avoid wearing dry-clean only clothes. The alternative is to go to Tallinn or Germany. My husband has all his dry cleaning done in Munich, he goes there once a month on average. It is less than half the price.

Thanks raamv... will definitely check that one out as we drive past on the way to the mökki often enough (so no detour or extra petrol...)

Do they have a webpage and/or what do they charge for a jacket? Trousers?

Theres a place in Kamppi (in the big shopping center) close to Lidl, avoid that one! Dont know if it is SOL or not, was pretty new in Finland when I turned in a dress there because it had a grease stain. A week later I picked up the dress and was going to wear it a few weeks later. But noooo... the stain was still there. Huge. The same stain I showed them when I turned the dress in.
I can understand that they may not be able to remove all stains, but charging full price and then not even letting the customer know that the stain is still there .... > FAIL.

The place in Kirkkonummi that raamv was referring to is called Clean Kalle http://www.cleankalle.fi

They have a couple places in Helsinki as well. No price list on their webpage that I could find but I guess you could call and ask them their prices. Try and bargain the price lower with the 4 suits
