Baker's stone in Finnish?

Post by jas_rho » Thu Feb 19, 2009 3:11 pm

Hey does anyone know what a baker's stone is in Finnish and can you get those in Finland? I am looking for one that would fit in a normal home oven. The use would be for bread and pizza.

Cool and thanks! I didn't even think to search pizza kivi and I was trying other searches like leipurin kivi etc with no results. I dunno what's a good one either but for me I just wanted to see what's the cost and if cheap enough I'd use it when baking bread. Thanks again!

Tulikivi:

(they are solid stone, very heavy, take a while to heat up but are really good, have had mine for years and years)

(edit.... actually I think the one I linked to is maybe ceramic, not sure. But I'm pretty sure that Tulikivi makes and sells them)

The cook shop on the corner of Bulevardi and Freda sells a ceramic stone (was on special offer last time I looked in) which is not as heavy as the Tulikivi but good enough (and only 29€ I think) for occasional use. It comes with a small wooden paddle which is quite useful.

I have one of these:

Had it a few years and whilst it looks "used", it still performs superbly.

It was about €25 from Prisma IIRC.
Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
