Flu shots

Post by luckykitty » Sat Mar 07, 2009 3:57 pm

Hey, are the flu shots free here from the health centre, or is there a fee for the actual liquid like other vaccines?
Is it common here to get yearly flu shots or every few years, or not common? I think the last time I got one was as a teenager.

Cheers,
LK

Ah wait actually probably isn't so common nowadays because flu strains mutate so quickly, but i read on some uk webpage mentioning yearly flu shots :o

They are free for old people and those people to who a flu might be dangerous (for example some cancer patients).

Others march to any private health station in November-December and get one. No need to reserve a time. Some people take those, others don´t. I used to get one every November when my work situation was such that I really could not lose a single day. But now I haven´t had one in years.

This winter there has been three different flus flying around, so if you took the shot, it really covered you from only one type.

Hi,

The shots are for influenza only, not agaists for the normal cold/flu.

Info about the differences:

Eat heathy, wash your hands often, get enough fresh air and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, that's how to avoid the flu.
And wear enough clothes! And a cap and cloves:)
