Any Audi owners in the forum?

Post by bm50 » Sat Apr 04, 2009 1:51 pm

Hello everyone,

I have just bought an old Audi 80 1986 1.8s, nice car but has a gearbox problem, are there any Audi owners with the same car or anyone know of a good mechanic in Helsinki?

Thanks!

I got rid of an old Audi 80 last year because the transmission was on the way out. Now that type of car is only worth about 1000 euros. Is it really worth fixing? I was told from one mechanic, that the best thing you can do is keep topping up the transmission fluid and every so often drain it out and refill. By doing this you could prolong the car's life at very little expense.
In the end I thought Sod it, and sold it........hope your's isn't the one I got rid of. :(

A "new" gearbox as in someothing off a wrecker is 350-400, work on top is another 350-400... and it could be worse... you need to do maths. Best place to get a spare though is autovahinkokeskus as there they're not frozen on the mud and if its a lemon you can exchange it.
