Birth Certificate for Indian Passport

Post by pranavla » Fri Apr 10, 2009 1:18 am

Hi,

I am a Indian citizen on a work permit of 9 months along with my family in Helsinki. We are blessed with a bay in helsinki last week. I got a 'certificate of live birth' from Hospital which only contains my wife name. I was told that this certificate is enough to get the passport but when I went to Indian embassy,i was told that untill I bring the birth certificate from maistraii, I cannot apply for new born passport as there is no nowhere mentioned the baby name & both parents name in the certificate issued by the hospital.

When I went to maistraii, I was told that they cannot register my baby in finland as my work permit is short term & my baby is not eligible to be registered in the finnish population system....now my question is from where I will get a birth certificate which baby name & parents name so that i can produce it to embassy for new passport....any clues?

I was told that if I get a certificate from Notary public with the baby name & parents name ,then it might be accepted by embassy...I still need to check...does anybosy has faced similar issue earlier..

Plz guide me...

1) Try the hospital and ask them to include both of your names (Tell them about your maistraatti story).
Notary is generally also done by maistraatti!!
In Finland , Ask right questions to get right answers..
If (1) doesnt work try
2) So Ask Maistraatti whether they will give you a certificate of apostille (stating name of dad n mom ) for the certificate that you got from the Hospital.-
(Since you asked for registration, they rejected you(r baby) for your short term status ).

Hi...I checked with the hospital today whether they can issue birth certificate containing the Parents & the baby name but they said that their certificate only contain mother's name & they cannot issue anything more.....I got of know from some people that in special cases hospital issues a certicate containing the parents & bay name but I don't have any sample of such certificate...does anybody had issued such a certificate with parents & baby name from hospital?...If so,can I get a sample copy of the same & on that basis I can request a similar certificate for me also....

Go to the maistraatti and ask to speak with the henkikirjoittaja and explain the situation. They have rules but the registrar has authority.

They will not issue anything with the baby's name, because in Finland babies are christened or given names many months after the birth, that is the tradition, at least it still is for a lot of people.
