Getting a prescription

Post by Flakkarin » Tue Jul 07, 2009 7:50 pm

Ok, so I've been on the contraceptive pill in the UK for a couple of years, and have been replenishing my supplly from there (I've been in FInland 10 months now), but now I'm about to run out! How do I go about getting a re-prescription here? I only have a European Health Insurance card.
Thanks!

Well if you are a student, you should be able to get a doctor/nurse appointment through your student health care. If you are working or registered as a resident in Finland on another basis, you should be in the KELA system if you applied for it. If you have not done so, you should, as you are completely without any kind of common health care. If you are in KELA, you just call your nearest health care center and say you want to book a time (costs 11 euros if I remember correctly). If you are not in the KELA system you have to go private (eg. Mehilainen or others) and that will cost quite a bit more (do not know how much). Actually, maybe the normal health care center will accept you also, but make you pay lots more, I am not sure.
