Hi,
I am living in Finland for 3 years already and I am almost finished with my business studies in AMK. But I realised that IT is something I would love to do more than business. The question is... Can I apply for Bachelor's degree in IT in AMK, having one AMK diploma already?

I tried to search through regulations though I did not find anything certain.
Thanks.

Well, it is not useless to me definitely. I started to work and I like the whole thing pretty much. But I was always into IT as well, so I am kind of thinking to turn it from hobby to profession, since I am pretty young and I have plenty of time... I thought the degree might do it. I realized it when it was too late to quit business, otherwise I would switch before...

Well, once you are on a RP for "permanent" then your studying won't jeopardise your status. Anyhow, getting a 2nd bachelors is possible, but you can also look into the open path and then try get to do the masters....

A pathway to get a master's degree combining IT and business (TKK and HSE OR Hanken ) might be more helpful and might save you time in your life..

I think another bachelor degree is possible, but it might be a matter of when you can apply for it. Not sure if the one-place-per-studies provision would prevent you from gaining admissions until another year. I would say go for a Master's degree, if you can.
One-place-per-student provision
---According to this provision, a student may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree during one academic year. The purpose of this is to ensure admission to higher education institutions for as many students as possible. Higher education degrees are Bachelor degrees and Master degrees awarded by universities, and Bachelor degrees and Master degrees awarded by polytechnics/UAS. The provision applies to all degree studies in higher education regardless of how the studies are provided. The provision does not apply to the National Defence College, the Police College of Finland and the Åland Polytechnic. Furthermore, the provision cannot be applied to studies completed at foreign higher education institutions.
The academic year (from 1 August to 31 July) is the set framework for implementation. The provision does not prevent acceptance of a place in another degree programme during another academic year. Even if the student postpones the commencement of studies for one year, or interrupts his/her studies, that student cannot accept another study place for a degree programme starting in the same academic year.---

Yeah, but there is evening classes. I went to study java architecture at Arcada in "night school". Though if you're still lingusitically challenged that restricts a bit. The bigger problem is that if you've already been in the country as a student you're a bit unlikely to get another student permit so thats then a bit challenging doing full-time studies for a 2nd degree.

Thanks all.
I was thinking about master's (and most probably I will do it anyways), I was just wondering if I a could get technical education. But it seems a bit complicated process (I did some further research by myself as well) and hence not worthy for me at the moment.
But thanks anyway.

Depends on the polytechnic, but Haaga-Helia got a quite "business-oriented" IT dept.
