Dryer repair

My dryer died it's a Rosenlew RTK205 almost 3 years old.

Any estimates how much it will cost to repair? I know thats hard to estimate as I have no idea whats wrong with it. But I wondered if someone had been in the same boat recently. How much did you pay?

Any recommendations for a repairman?

A few months ago we had a prooblem with a washing machine. I was convinced it was something minor (it probaby was), and decided to ivestigate myself. Yeah I'm not going to attempt to fix it myself, it's computerised and has heat sensors and all sorts. I wonder if it's still under guarantee. It'd have to have a 5 year one though and I can't see it having such a long one. If the repair is more than a couple of hundred euros I'll probably just buy a new one.

I know one good one in Kirkkonummi who can tell you how much it ll cost to fix it as well as sell parts but then Dont know where you are..
If it is just the heater element, then 20-30€...If its the fan belt, then €2-10.
If it is the moisture sensor, then €0, as it requires cleaning it properly.. but then without knowing what happens when you switch it on, its really hard to tell.
and yes, I have fixed complex dryers and washing machines and also bought new ones that are direct drives....
So what are the symptoms?

Regarding the dryer, the lights come on but the start button doesn't start the dryer and the green light above the start button is flashing. In the manual it says if the dryer doesn't start and the light bove the start button is flashing then call maintenance.

Well, as you *do* have a homeowners' insurance? They might/not refund something, but the paper saying the estimate costs 90,- which the homeowners insurance covers even they won't pay jack otherwise.

Have you checked that the water tray is not full?
Have you cleaned the flint tray and the condensing filter ?
Do you have a condensing sensor ? If the sensor if blocked, dryer is in a place where moisture and the flint combine to block the sensors.
After removing the condenser, Can you clean the area with a towel/paper to remove all the flint and see if the light is still blinking?
Another issue could be a heating element might have blown a fuse.

Hi I cleaned all the filters and emptied the water tray (I do that regularly). I vacuumed everywhere I could (all the dust crap).

Not sure where the sensors are. I've had a look for one but can't locate it.

Have you cleaned the flint tray and the condensing filter ?
Do you have a condensing sensor ? If the sensor if blocked, dryer is in a place where moisture and the flint combine to block the sensors.
After removing the condenser, Can you clean the area with a towel/paper to remove all the flint and see if the light is still blinking?

hmm.. Will have to wait till the repair man comes then ..

I got a brand new washer/drier that got the same issue, the magnet in the door has a sensor that had come loose so it was "thinking" the door wasn't shut.

This guys taking the piss now. He phoned my wife this morning and told her he knows whats wrong with it without even looking at it. He's ordered the part and will come and install it next week.

I have worked in repairs about 8 years and in most cases i could say what probably was problem and mostly i were right. There are "common faults" in things. Those common faults are where money comes.
Lot of work was on common faults, of course every now and then there were things when i seriously thought about calling priest to throw devil out.
