Can you serve in Finn. military over 30 or as ulkomaalainen

Ok, so the thread-title field restricted me to a certain number of characters there...

For the sake of clarity: Can you serve in the Finnish military over the age of thirty (as a citizen) or as a foreigner living in Finland?

I had a long chat with the (Finnish) S.O. about life, marriage, etc. One of the items that came up was military service. I told her it would be important to me to serve for something that I believed in, etc blah blah we all poop golden roses...

But when I started crunching the numbers, it turns out that I will reach my 6 years in Finland a gnat's wing before my 29th birthday. Tack on another year for citizenship application processing, and I'll be 30 and presumably ineligible. (ja joo joo, toi yki-testi ei mielestäni oo mikään ongelma)

Now if I was married to the S.O. (gulp), this *should* hack off two years, but in the eyes of Sauron née KELA, we have only lived together for 1.5 years, and we are currently living in separate domiciles (I took a job in another town while she finishes school). So bureaucracy being what it is, I would fully expect to have a 4-year citizenship application rejected.

So what's the beef? Can I still serve? Anyone have experience with this sort of thing?

And yes, this is basically an open thread for Hank, but reply please if you have any insights.

You can ask one of the members here. He had the Finnish Defence Force Coat of Arms as his avatar earlier. He knows everything about military matters in Finland. Atleast according to him.
