Hello,

I'm living already for 1.2 years in Finland. I'm a permanent resident, from EU country. Recently i have start my university studies and i will receive the student financial aid.
Also i was working for 1 year (paying taxes...etc) and i have quit last Saturday because i will have a very bad schedule at school so i will be able to work just in the evening after 17:00 (i couldn't arrange anything at my work to make evening shift's so i was forced to quit).

My question: can i apply for a social help from the state, until i will find some evening work ? Starting form now (september) i will receive the student financial aid (469 E i think) that are not enaught for living. Can i apply for some social help ? Somebody has any knowledge about this ?

Maybe you can get some housing aid? Students usually get that. Otherwise it is no. That is why it takes so long for Finnish students to study. Just about everyone has to have a job, they cannot just study. My son drove a taxi for 5 years, my daughter was a cashier at a supermarket.

Student aid consists of two parts: the grant (basic and housing allowance) and loan. If the grant is not sufficient, you are supposed to apply for the loan.

If it is not enough, you have to downscale your live style.
Or you could of course have quit your study and kept your job.

I have just ask if it's possible it's ok and i'm not intending to sleep at home and get money from the state! It's not me! I have just quit my work, and i'm searching for a job...it will be a little difficult because my finnish it's still level 1-2...so i'm learning. And i want to study for the moment, after to work in my domain. I'm not finnish and i don't need the social aid! It was a question! Even for the student financial aid, my fiancee that she's finnish she has convinced me to apply for it! I'm not an alcoholic to benefit from the system! I'm able to work and i will work for my money i don't need the help from the state!

But i hope i will find fast a job!
