Hello all.
I moved away from Finland a couple of months ago and all of the sudden I get a letter from intrum justitia telling me I have to pay up on a phone bill that I allegedly never paid. I have a few questions about this:
1. Does intrum justitia have the ability to collect from me even though I am outside of Finland (in North America now)?
2. If so how does that work?
3. When I left Finland I took care of all loose ends and didnt pay the fee to have my mail forwarded; however, I still receive mail. Why is that and what can I do to stop getting mail (meaning useless mail like stuff from the cruise ship companies)?
Thanks.
International bill collection from Finland?
Re: International bill collection from Finland?
You have debt that is sold to Intrum, Intrum sells your debt to bill collection agency that operates at your side of the Atlantic, Profit!Rimi wrote:1. Does intrum justitia have the ability to collect from me even though I am outside of Finland (in North America now)?

Do they do that? For 48 Euros? lol.

When the bill arrives, it won't be €48,- any more.Rimi wrote:Do they do that? For 48 Euros? lol.

The fee you pay to Posti is for them to forward everything, i.e. magazines, direct marketing thingies etc. Posti will forward all first class mail free of charge ad infinitum, as long as they have your new address. Of course, they don't exactly advertise this as most people, like you, think that one must pay for the service.Rimi wrote:3. If you no longer wish to receive mail from particular individuals and/or parties, do the sensible thing: ask them to take you off their mailing list. Simple!
Finland -> Australia -> Finland -> Canada -> Finland -> the UK -> Finland
