Would anyone know of any English language swimming schools in the Healsinki Area that would teach a 5yo. to swim?

My youngest went to swimming school at abut that age (I think he was 6 yrs) and he coped fine even though he couldn't understand/speak Finnish (he went to Espoonlahti pool in Espoo).

Just ask at your local pool. It's more than likely the instructor can speak English and would be willing to explain things to him.

Most of the swimming courses for little kids have a start and end date that coincides with school terms, so you might need to enrol now for January. They do get quite booked up.

Not to derail, but how does the foreign mothers look upon "Vauvauinti", that the babies learn to swim at the age of 3 - 4 months?

See Tarzan in his early days. Or is it Jane?

Just Google Vauvauinti and you get a lot of sites and places where you can swim with your baby.
