Test drive

Post by KoolAid » Fri Dec 11, 2009 4:58 pm

Hi,

Could someone please explain what it is written here in the reply of sales manager. Do they mean that test drive availability depends on weather condition? Thanks!

Hei!

"Hi!
You were interested to test drive Mazda MX-5, you can inspect the car in our premises and we'll see what kind of deal we can arrange, if the weather is bad then the test drive is not the first thing (or second or third..). But of course it is possible if the deal is otherwise ok."

So in other words: you'll drive the car next spring/next good freeze unless you are _really_ buying it. As in name in paper with clause that sale is done, unless you spot some fault that is not already written up.

Maybe I misinterpreted. I would have read it as "that's not the first car I'd have someone test drive" in bad driving conditions -- in other words, it's one of his more expensive cars, or he has very few of them, or most likely both, and he's extra careful about it.
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

My Finnish sucks but I can see where he's coming from. Rear wheel drive sports car, an enthusiastic test pilot (not aimed at you personally of course) and icy weather all rolled into one probably give him nightmares :D

Might be that also. But first thing that popped to my mind was waxed car and snow and water and salt slushing on the street. Insurance would cover wrecked car, but who would pay for washing and new make up for the car?

btw, second winter with rwd car and i'd say that it is easier to notice slippery weather _and_ drive accordingly than with fwd car.

Why would you buy a mazda mx5 for Finland? Serious question. I had one in England and debated the fact of bringing it over, but truly impractical and hardly many chances to get the top down.
