British Airways to strike over Christmas

Post by paulrenn » Mon Dec 14, 2009 5:31 pm

I hope any fellow ex-pats who are going to the UK for Christmas, are not going with BA...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8411214.stm

"It goes without saying that we have taken this decision to disrupt passengers and customers over the Christmas period with a heavy heart," said Len McCluskey, assistant general secretary of the Unite union.

Yeah right, I bet the paying passengers will have a "heavy heart" too.

These so-called "flag carriers" will soon be out of business, leaving EasyJet and the rest with a nice clear run at the rate they are going.

me and my girlfriend have tickets to the UK at christmas with Lufthansa at 160e return. This kind of strike is wonderful for us, LH flights will be overbooked, they'll look for volunteers to fly later and we might pocket hundreds of euros for taking a later flight. Often you can end up in profit for the trip (compensation is more that the original cost of the ticket).

If they have to hang around for a few days with nothing to do get them to steam clean your bathroom before they leave.

A judge has put the kibosh on the BA Union's strike

Judge issues injunction to prevent BA strike
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.
