ANTI FREEZE in screenwash

Post by brengun » Wed Dec 16, 2009 1:32 am

Its probably too late now, but if you haven,t done it. do it now and maybe you haven,t bust your water pump etc.. you need to drive to a heated carpark, like the free one at lidl, lauttasaari' park up and shop for two hours(to allow the ice to melt) come back and use the screen washer until its empty,,, then refil with the suitable minus 20 screen wash, hope you haven,t damaged your screen wash system,, good luck , and let me have feedback on success or otherwise,,, now c'mon P, you shuddav told us in advance. :)

Things what everyone knows but no one tells you because these things are obvious.
Someone should make book about things everyone knows and name it "as foreign in finland, what small things i should know." :)

I remember when i as about toddler changed fluids for car with my dad. Everyone knows summer screenwash has to be changed in winter, doh

Also remember to check freezing point of liquid in radiator, its not nice suprise when your engine boils.
Most of gas stations should have meter for that and if you dont find one then just change proper mix in motor.

great. you guys gotta watch or you ,ll turn into some boring wise- ass grandad, or maybe you already have,( though i,ve known some cool grandads). Its not a question of knowing, its one of habit and certain habits need reinforcing . so DOH.,, so for anyone who might have overlooked the matter, or who may not be so clued up on such matters, ignore the pettiness and check your screenwash. :)

There is no universal rule, you have to check your car's manual for that.

You can use this stuff if you've waited too long to change your diesel fuel. :)

Diesel Recovery
(DRC)
Diesel Recovery Emergency Fuel Treatment (DRC)
AMSOIL Diesel Recovery quickly liquefies gelled fuel, thaws frozen fuel filters and reduces the need for a new filter, saving both money and avoiding costly towing charges and getting diesels back on the road. Performs well in all diesel fuels, including ULSD, off-road and biodiesel. Cheap insurance against frozen fuel.
One 30 oz. bottle quickly dissolves 30 gallons of gelled fuel to allow the operator to continue driving with minimal downtime. It thaws frozen fuel filters and reduces the need for a new filter, saving money and preventing an inconvenient trip to an auto parts store.

• Quickly Dissolves Gelled Fuel
• Thaws Frozen Fuel Filters
• Performs Well in ULSD, Off-Road & Biodiesel
• Alcohol-Free
• Non-Corrosive

As for the windshield/windscreen washer fluid, just use the winter mix all year long.
