Anyone have a tube fed child?

Post by mikkolover » Fri Jan 08, 2010 10:02 pm

We have been struggling with feeds with our now 2 year old son since birth and have been considering a g.tube for some time now. It would be great to talk to a family that already has experience with a g.tube inside finland. If you know anyone, please have them write us.

thank you

I am sorry but I don´t understand. Have you talked about your feeding problems in neuvola? What are they saying? Or does your child have some health problems that would need tube feeding? The only tube fed infant I have seen is a litte one who had a kidney failure and had a transplant from his father. And for a while after the surgery he was tube fed.

Children eat when they're hungry. Two-year-olds tend to have most of their teeth, so they should pretty much be eating the same as you do, with you (but with meat etc. cut up)

Um.. there are millions no billions of reasons children need to be tube fed. Without into going into my son's specific situation, I simply wanted to see if there were families out there who have a similar situation.

It is an uncomfortable topic for most people, so I understand the fear and confusion, but children with tubes are just normal, loving, amazing children, who just need some help with growing. Please don't advise on a topic you are unclear about.

We have not been seen at neuvola since my son was 3 weeks old, only at the university hospital. Neuvola can't even understand the situations regarding children with tubes, it isn't 'normal' or 'standard', but it IS a way many children live and grow and survive!
