Packet returned to sender before I got to PO!

Post by oompah18 » Tue Jan 19, 2010 8:53 pm

What do I do now? I didn´t find time to pick up my Hobbyhall packet from posti, & now it has been sent back. I just received a bill for the stuff today. I searched through the Hobbyhall online pages to find what to do, but my Finnish isn´t so hot......
Does anyone know: (or tell me where it is on the webpage, the Finnish words!)
Will I be billed for the postage for them returning it back to Hobbyhall?
I can´t pay the bill if I haven´t received it, or do I HAVE to???
I am not so bothered actually if I don´t get the packet after all, I am sure I can live without whatever I have bought! BUT how can I find out the info.
Sorry for such a stupid question!

Call the Hobby Hall customer help line and ask for someone who speaks English (there are a few but I can't remember their names). They are lovely friendly people (at least the ones I have met were). Just explain your situation (lay it on as thick as you like!!!) I'm sure they will be understanding :)

(If you can't find anyone who speaks English, then tell them they should book some more lessons!!! Thx  )

Yeah I was exactly going "call 'em" response. The PO keeps the package for 2 weeks.

There is probably a phone number on the invoice. Otherwise just pick one of these:

Asiakaspalvelu: puh. 010 192 020
ma-pe 8-20, la 9-15

Service på svenska: puh. 010 192 021
ma-pe 8-20, la 9-15

Kanta-asiakkaat: puh. 010 192 022
ma-pe 8-20, la 9-15

So how stupid was I? All I had to do was login to my account to see my own page & there it was, order cancelled. So easy! BUT, not so, I have since had 2 reminder letters to pay the bill, with the extra reminder charge of course  , so I finally worked out how to send them a message .... can´t bear the thought of trying to phone them in my Finglish! so let´s see what their reply will be....
trust me, I am good at complicating situations lately, must be rather tired.....
Thanks for your advice anyway!

You can also call them and speak English. I worked for them a while back, and there are alway people who speak English there. If the one who answers is not confident with her English she will just pass you to the next one.

Yes, that is exactly what I tried to explain in my post. I have given English lessons to the call-handlers in Hobby Hall. They are wonderful friendly people and the ones in my group were all more than capable of answering the phone in English! In fact, at a guess I would say they would feel more comfortable answering a call in English than sending an email in English.

Monday. Thank you once again!

You're lucky they don't learn Finnish in India. I had to deal with an Indian call center once regarding a problem with my ISP, and it was a nightmare -- getting a MIDI version of Madonna's La Isla Bonita as hold music, repeating over and over for a good 15 minutes before I got disconnected, and had to call back. The presumably real person on the other end who finally answered didn't speak English very well, and clearly had no idea how to solve my problem....

If something like this might happen again in the future, i.e. you expecting a package and not being home for a longer period of time, you should call the post office and request they hold the package longer than the usual 14 days.
I've done it several times and they don't make a fuzz about it. As long as they know that the package will be picked up at some point they will keep it in the post office. At no extra charge.
