selling Asian food ?

Post by job seeker » Thu Feb 04, 2010 3:55 pm

Hello Guys

I am wondering how some Asian food shop imports their goods and retails it here. Do they import them directly from suppliers in Asia or they buy it from Finnish suppliers?

i dont think they will buy them in the Finnish suppliers since most of their product are cheaper than some of the products in normal Finnish shops, all of those stuff are imported.
If you wish to convince people of something, it is more useful to be entertaining than to be right

Hi,

I think most of the ethnic shops here in Finland source there products from either Sweden or Germany, where there is a larger ethnic community.
Maybe certain products can be sourced from suppliers here, but most of it is brought from those EU countries.

It could be an opportunity for a wholesaler who has storage space, and financial power, to start importing from Asia, middle east and become a distributor to those shop. This will save them time and maybe make those products a bit cheaper, but all depends on demand.

It is probably easier to import FROM EU than TO EU too.

Hi,

Yes I think so. importing from EU is better if dealing with smaller quantities as you don't have to pay import taxes, and the cost of transport will be cheaper.
Also the products will adhere to the EU norms.

Cheers.
