Isoäitini äiti

I stumbled upon this story in HS.fi:
It’s the personal history of the author’s great-grandmother who was born in a quite different Finland than we know today and who lived through quite interesting historical times. The article resembles a Reader’s Digest human-interest story in its chosen style of prose. It is also quite longish so you may want to print it out for reading (12 pages). If you do, make sure to use the separate print version for that – the normal layout does not print out too well.

There’s also a slide show linked to the story where the author, Mrs. Sartti, provides a narration to the presented pictures using her own voice. This slide show can be opened by clicking the black & white photograph at the top of the page.

I guess this will only be of use for advanced Finnish readers – especially those who have some interest in history and old times – but it was a nice story, somehow, and makes you wonder how much the world will change in the next 150 years.
