Need advise
Recently I've recieved 3 letters from UAS (3 different UAS) with an invitation to entrance examination. Only in 1 of them i got a list with information from Finnish Immigration Service. As i have understood because as a citizen of EU country I don't need a residence permit (as a student) just register in local police office, but I have to prove, thet i have 6000 euro on my bank account or 500 euro per moth and a place to live.
Well I hope, that have to prove it all after I will get accepted to the UAS... am I right?
I want to apply for a flat or something like that to KOAS. Maybe it will reduce the required amount of money, but how can i reduce it? Contact with immigration service of how?
I just have exam on 21 april, if what my family can provide me with around 500 euro per moth, but I am not quite sure about a flat 'cause who knows... maybe i won't get it from KOAS...
I am sure that at least some of you had the same problem.. Can you share your experience?) I'm a little bit confused what to do and what not to...

Not sure if you have to prove that as an EU resident.but I have to prove, thet i have 6000 euro on my bank account or 500 euro per moth and a place to live.
But it is a realistic minimum to survive here.
(don't count on part time jobs)
Re: Need advise
Well I realise that =)
Sure i hope, that I will find some part time job (maybe not at first year, but later), but even if i don't then i will have money anyway.

Here is written, that i may provide proof of funding in any way i choose, so I have to do it obviously.
I just want to get, how can i prove it and if i have to do it (find aplace to live, have 500 euro and register in local police... health insurance also, but i have EU healt insurance card, so i think i have no problem with this.) after I get accepted, otherwise it won't make any sense i think.
And question about KOAS. If anybody applied for a flat then what % of that I will get it?

Really how, im waiting for the august application time, did you apply directly to the school? What course you on?
You need bank statements in your name showing that you have that kind of money.
Re: Need advise
Well i lied a little =P I recieved them on 15 march as i remember.
I applied for Nursing.
"You need bank statements in your name showing that you have that kind of money."
Well ok but i need to prove it after i get accepted to UAS? Because who knows, maybe something will happen and I won't go to UAS for some reason, but i have money on my account, then they will be useless this way...
I think that first i go entrance examination, then in August i recieve a letter, that i am accepted and only after that i have to show money and a place to live to Immigration service. Am i right or...?

Re: Need advise
I'm not sure what you're asking. Just make sure the money is there when your applying and that you apply for residence permit on time. But you need the acceptance letter to apply otherwise you don't meet the conditions.
I'm applying for nursing as well. Lemme know how the exam goes. And where are you writting them?

Re: Need advise
I am asking about if I have to show money before entrance examination or after i get accepted to the UAS. Just at the moment i don't have money on my account yet, but i will have them in the end of summer and i get (if i get =)) acceptence letter in August, so it makes sense i think.
I got exam on 21 april and i go there only with invitation letter and my knowledge =). I hope it's enough for this... money later =D

Re: Need advise
You need the money in your account when you are applying for a student residence permit, that is it. Unless you are accepted to your studies, there is no point in applying for the residence permit and no need to have the money in your account

Re: Need advise
That's the answer i needed )). Thanks a lot).

Re: Need advise
One thing, if you are coming to Finland to make the entrance examinations, you may need a visa for that (depends on which country you are from, it is not written in the thread). That is totally different from the student residence permit you will need when moving here for studies.
So maybe you need to show some kind of money to get the visitor visa if they think you are planning to use the entrance examinations as a sneaky way to enter Europe and stay illegally, I am not sure about that. If you are an EU citizen, you do not need any visa to come and visit.

Re: Need advise
ok, no problems then. You just come here and do well on your exam and go back and make that student residence permit application
Good luck!

Re: Need advise
As a non EU student, is there any other way of overcoming the proof of money in the account (6000e). It is quite difficult to have that much money immediately.
For example, would it be fine to show them a steady income from my bank statements - that money has been coming in the past year(s)? What would they need to see that (official documents or something, etc?)
Anyone have any experience with that? Cheers.

Money talks, bs walks.

Re: Need advise
I do not see anywhere in official instructions requirement to actually have that 6000€ (if you are EU citizen). Bank statements should be useful, if you have any more documents describing the nature of those payments that won't hurt either.coltsmild wrote:As a non EU student, is there any other way of overcoming the proof of money in the account (6000e).
