Gold in Finland

Post by r32 » Tue Apr 27, 2010 9:34 pm

I was wondering where I can find information about taxation on gold in Finland.

Can somebody provide some information or some link where I can get some more details about this issue.

Taxation is same as in everything else. But remember that there is gold and there is gold, how much it costs depends on carats. 24K is considered pure cold. 18K is usual. Some touristy stuff bought from holiday trips is 14K or even as low as 9K.

Under EU law (of 2000) gold bullion (including bullion coins, not numismatic coins) has zero VAT.

Numismatic coins are also 0-vat if their value isn't more than 80% over the value of the gold.

Under Finnish law the seller can elect to pay vat :P
