Exchange programs for college students?

Post by green rosetta » Thu May 27, 2010 3:55 am

Hi everyone! I am a 21 year old college student in the USA and I am looking for some sort of study abroad program in Finland. I do not speak Finnish, but would love to learn. In high school, I was an exchange student in South America and loved the way it was set up. I lived with a family, attended school, and had Spanish classes a few times a week. I really felt like I got to experience life the way that Uruguayans experienced it. I would like something similar in Finland- I would ideally like to live with a family, and just see what normal life is like. I would ideally only like to stay for a month or two, as now that I'm older I have more obligations here at home. Taking classes wouldn't be necessary, but I'd like to do something outside of the home so I can meet Finnish people of my age- maybe take dance classes, or join a choir. Does anyone know of any programs like this? Has anyone done it independently? Thanks!
