TUAS as in Salo?
I originally went there to study Nursing, I transfered to Metropolia after 18 months. I surely hope they change their ways of teaching the program. The teaching quality was very very poor except for one teacher (but he left a few months after me). One thing I hated about that school was the fact that we didn't go for clinical practice before end of our first year. And then it was mainly Salo. I was lucky to go to Somero for mine and was the only student then so I got to do some things. Whereas my colleagues ended up in Salo, doing nothing as there was so many of them in the wards.
So my advice for TUAS is try to get as much practices in the capital area or Turku to get the most opportunities. Also try to get to know students from Metropolia or Laurea and have them telling you when they go and attend interesting stuff. One of my colleague from TUAS came to a few of our stuff in Metropolia by just networking and asking nicely. He took his learning into his own hands and did most of his practices in Helsinki/Espoo/Vantaa as well as attend extra lectures with Metropolia.
Good luck anyway. Feel free to pm me if you need any help

Oh and one advice for all the new nursing students : learn Finnish! Don't assume you'll know the language with the few units they'll teach you at school or by picking it up. It won't happen. And believe me no fluent Finnish = no job! I graduated in November and was unable to work as a registered nurse due to lack of fluency in Finnish... Keep that in mind

Re: New students 2010/2011!
you are such kind, thanks amandine, dont worry i will take care of myself, im still angry about laurea and metropolia's entrance exam they were totally stupidly professional who reads books best who wins, thats so dump-head way of justifying a person to study nurse or be nurse.
if salo is really that bad, i will transfer!

Yeah definitely keep your mind open about transfering. If you have good grades in Salo then you should be ok transfering, and to be honest it's not rocket science. I think a few teachers still are there so as long as you read the books you'll be fine. Oh and I have a few books still from when I was in Salo (mainly anatomy and helping methods). Seeing as I don't need them anymore, ask me before you buy them new. They are as new, without scribbling on them.

Oh but it is a bed of roses, someone just sold all the flowers and left the thorns.
