Herbs and spices in Finnish

Post by Cloudberry » Mon May 31, 2010 2:38 pm

I just stumbled across a fabulous list of herbs and spices in English and Finnish (along with a few other languages) and thought I should share.

http://www.dlc.fi/~marianna/gourmet/multi_sp.htm

If you're anything like me and you like to cook but struggle to find those crucial ingredients this list will be your saviour! Sometimes you begin to think that the product doesn't exist but then you realise that you had the name wrong and/or were looking in the wrong section. You'll notice that there are links at the top of that page that will take you to other food categories with the same comprehensive list style. It's a great resource. Enjoy!

its always good to check via Latin names, say through wikipedia as the same spice name in English can be used for a different plant in the UK, US or AU, nevermind globally "somebody called it something when they sold it".
"By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes."
